If you want to buy a game but you are unsure about it, try out a pirated copy first, and see whether the game appeals to you or not. If it is so good to you and that it frequently updates too, then you can buy to support the developers. You can also wait for sales if you want cheaper prices. Steam will occasionally put prices for sales during festive times such as Halloween, Christmas or even seasons like summer.
